Drawing on findings from a recent exploratory study with experienced eye‑gaze AAC users, we examine the real‑world benefits, limitations, and impact of AI on communication, including considerations of accuracy, cognitive load, trust, and user control. We highlight how individuals have long been using AI‑driven tools and emphasize the importance of clearly defined, user‑centered use cases. The session also provides guidance on when and how to apply AI in AAC ethically and thoughtfully to support authentic, effective communication.
